Leslie C. Smith is an award-winning freelance writer and editor based in Toronto. A regular contributor to several national and international publications, her by-line has appeared in virtually every major Canadian newspaper, including The Globe & Mail, where she was a weekly columnist for several years. Leslie’s extensive magazine credits comprise associate editor and columnist status for periodicals as diverse as enRoute, Canadian Retailer, Homemaker’s, Dogs in Canada and Canadian Interiors. Television appearances include CanadaAM, Global News and TVO’s Studio 2. She has also co-authored and edited nearly two dozen books, ranging from children’s stories and textbooks to physiological and psychological treatises.
On the corporate side, Leslie’s editorial services encompass all aspects of business communications – from web content and advertising copy to ghost- and speech-writing, special reports and white papers.
Regular teaching duties at the University of Toronto include courses in copywriting, business writing and corporate communications. She also creates and presents customized writing workshops for staff at private corporations and organizations.
Leslie remains actively involved in her craft. A long-time member of the Editors’ Association of Canada and president emeritus of the Toronto Chapter of the Professional Writers Association of Canada, she contributes to association publications and has appeared on several professional development panels.
