Optimism and Somberness Collide in Pantone’s 2021 Colors of the Year

Following one of the bleakest years in memory, Pantone has announced its 2021 color of the year. And it’s not one but two colors designed to create the sensation of a fresh sunrise over rocky terrain. The colors are called Illuminating, a yellow that appears like the skin of a ripe lemon, and Ultimate Gray, which resembles wet cement.

Home security brand, SimpliSafe, created a Christmas sweater featuring built-in alarms that go off if anyone comes within 6 feet of the person wearing it. LinkedIn Adds New ‘Products’ Tab on Company Page

LinkedIn is helping B2B marketers use their platform as a type of digital storefront with the launch of its Product Pages tab. This new feature lets users showcase key offerings, testimonials as well as ratings. It also has a call-to-action buttons for sales contact or demo requests. LinkedIn will curate the pages for businesses and lets marketers customize their content.

What is the Clubhouse App?

Clubhouse is a live audio app that allows people to listen or actively participate in live discussions. They can either enter a room and start listening or host a private room and wait for people to show up. When the room ends, the conversation is gone forever. What makes the app super-sticky is the diversity of well-spoken individuals who host rooms and participate. Currently only available on the App store for iPhone, Clubhouse is an invite-only experience. However, you can still set up an account and someone who knows you can grant you access.

YouTube Culture + Trends Report

YouTube, the Google-owned video site, released its first-ever Culture + Trends Report. Here are some insights from the report:
  • 58% of people are open to watching digital content made by creators of any age.
  • Baby boomer creators surfaced around the world this year, and beauty tutorials were the most popular topic for that age group.
  • ‘Cowatching’ provided a safe way for people to get together for ‘live’ events during the quarantine.
  • Developing new skills helped many viewers weather the pandemic, as videos with ‘beginner’ in the title were viewed over 7 billion times.
